भारत सरकार ने प्रथम बार भारतीय अंतर्राष्ट्रीय फिल्म महोत्सव की स्वर्ण जयंती के प्रतीक के रूप में एक विशेष पुरस्कार का गठन किया है। इस पुरस्कार को प्रख्यात फिल्म अभिनेता एस. रजनीकांत को प्रदान किया जाएगा। केंद्रीय सूचना एवं प्रसारण मंत्री प्रकाश जावड़ेकर ने यह घोषणा की है। उन्होंने कहा कि पिछले कई दशकों के दौरान भारतीय सिनेमा में उनके उत्कृष्ट योगदान को मान्यता देते हुए भारतीय अंतर्राष्ट्रीय फिल्म महोत्सव 2019 की स्वर्ण जयंती के आइकन का पुरस्कार फिल्म अभिनेता एस. रजनीकांत को प्रदान किया जाएगा।
नई दिल्ली। 50वें भारतीय अंतर्राष्ट्रीय फिल्म महोत्सव 2019, में 76 देशों की 200 सर्वश्रेष्ठ फिल्मों, 26 फीचर फिल्मों और 15 गैर-फीचर फिल्मों का भारतीय पैनोरमा खंड में प्रदर्शन किया जाएगा और 10,000 से अधिक लोग एवं फिल्म प्रेमियों के इस स्वर्ण जयंती समारोह में भाग लेने की आशा है। इस समारोह में फिल्म अभिनेता एस. रजनीकांत को आईकान अवॉर्ड दिए जाने की घोषणा की गई है।
आपको बता दे कि कारपेंटर से कुली और कुली से बस कंडक्टर तथा बस कंडक्टर से सुपरस्टार बने रजनीकांत की कहानी किसी फिल्म की पटकथा से कम नहीं है। उनका जन्म 12 दिसंबर 1950 को कर्नाटक के एक मराठी भाषी परिवार में हुआ था। उनका मूल नाम शिवाजी राव गायकवाड़ है। फिल्मों में शुरुआत करने से पूर्व उन्होंने जीवन-यापन के लिए अत्यंत संघर्ष किया। उन्होंने बैंगलोर में कर्नाटक राज्य परिवहन निगम के लिए एक बस कंडक्टर के रूप में कार्य किया। इस अवधि के दौरान, नाटकों में अभिनय के बाद एक्टिंग के प्रति उनका रुझान जगा।
रजनीकांत नाम से लोकप्रिय अभिनेता को फिल्मों में पहला ब्रेक पुत्तन कन्नागल द्वारा निर्देशित कन्नड़ फिल्म कथा संगम में एक छोटी सी भूमिका निभाने के साथ मिला। इसके पश्चात उन्होंने के. बालाचंदर द्वारा निर्देशित तमिल फिल्म अपूर्व रवांगल (1975) में एक कैंसर रोगी की भूमिका निभाई। फिल्म के मुख्य अभिनेता कमल हसन थे, जो उनके सबसे करीबी दोस्तों में से एक हैं। इसके पश्चात फिल्म जगत और लोगों में उनकी जबरदस्त पहचान बनी और फिर उन्होंने कभी पीछे मुड़कर नहीं देखा। अपने लंबे और महत्वपूर्ण कैरियर में, रजनीकांत ने तमिल, तेलगु, कन्नड़, मलयालम, हिंदी और बंगाली सहित कई भाषाओं में 170 से अधिक फिल्मों में अभिनय किया है। उन्होंने हॉलीवुड प्रोडक्शन, ब्लड स्टोन (1988) में भी अभिनय किया।
भारत सरकार ने उन्हें पद्म भूषण (2000) और पद्म विभूषण (2016) से सम्मानित किया है। 45वें भारतीय अंतर्राष्ट्रीय फिल्म समारोह (2014) में, उन्हें भारतीय फिल्म अभिनेता के तौर पर शताब्दी पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया।
